Despite the Massive Military Operations in Sapie PS, Paligue, Indanan, Sulu

Sapie Incident refers to an AFP-ASG encounter happened in Lantung, Paligue, Indanan, Sulu last February 21, 2017. It was just a half kilometer away from Sapie Primary School headed by Faijal I. Andan. It caused the 4-day disruption of classes. Most of the parents and school children stayed in Social Hall until the MDRRMC, DSWD, PNP, KABALIKAT Indanan and other parthers arrived with food assistance and relief goods. After a week, School Mass Feeding Program (SMFP) sponsored by Asia America Initiative led by President, Prof. Albert M. Santoli in partnership with parents and guardians served the entire pupils from Kindergarten to Grade 2.

The thumbnail photo shows the Week 2 of SMFP in Social Hall where teachers and students observed classes. At first, teachers, Faijal I. Andan, TIC/Kindergarten Class Adviser and Nurjaina F. Yusop, Grade 1 & 2 Adviser planned not to conduct classes due to continuous launch of AFP operations in Paligue where Sapie Primary School is situated. However, Sir Moore, the Public Schools District Supervisor noticed the school children loitering anywhere during school days despite many AFP forces scattered in the barangay. With that, PSDS Sam consulted the TIC and his teacher how the students would be give education despite the classrooms were not available in Social Hall. The TIC and his teacher sought the assistance of the Campus PTA President if they could observe classes in the Barangay Hall.

Finally, Sapie PS held classes in the Social Hall only in the morning because of the continued military operations in the barangay. Last Friday, PSDS Moore advised the TIC, Faijal I. Andan just to conduct 1-hour classes in Sapie PS beginning Monday.
